Our Affiliates Program at a Glance:
- Besides our launch partners, this affiliate program is currently open to clients who have organised a live workshop with us or for whom we’ve done some training or consulting & coaching work at any point in time, as well as participants who have completed at least one of our live workshops or online courses and writers/directors with whom we’ve worked on a project.
- To become an affiliate, which is easy and free, you or your organisation must have an active user account on the SCREENPLAY Unlimited website (otherwise, please register first). Once logged in, head to the Affiliate Registration page to apply. You become an affiliate when your application is confirmed. You can then access the Affiliate Area, as well as the Affiliates group page, which provides additional help and resources to our affiliates.
- Don’t worry about your privacy, affiliates are not listed publicly anywhere on the website unless they want to be, for example when we announce (in a blog or a newsletter) a specific campaign designed in collaboration with them, or if they ask to join the list of organisations supporting our online courses.
- Each confirmed affiliate is assigned unique affiliate links and, if applicable, unique discount codes (usually valid for 30 to 90 days).
- Each affiliate will receive a 20% commission for every sale they refer (Option 1, no additional discount for their audience / team / friends / colleagues), unless they opt for the 10% commission rate (Option 2, additional 10% discount for the affiliate’s audience / team / friends / colleagues) or for the 0% commission rate (Option 3, favoured by public funding bodies and not-for-profit organisations, who can offer an additional 20% discount to their audience).
- Each sale is attributed to the first referrer, unless a discount code is used, in which case the discount code takes precedence.
- Affiliate links can be published and shared anywhere but discount codes can only be communicated to your audience / team / friends / colleagues by email, on your website or in a pre-agreed publication (magazine article, blog post etc.) and cannot be shared publicly, for example on social media or in ads.
- Referrals are paid out to your bank account or debit card once you’ve registered for the Payouts Service (non-zero commission rate option only).
- There is no need to provide an email for payment during the affiliate registration if you choose the 0% commission option as in that case there is no financial transaction taking place in any direction (from us to you or from you to us).
- Commissions are paid monthly, with a 60-day delay (for example, a payout made at the end of March will only include commissions up to the end of January).
- Minimum payout balance of U.S. $100.00, and no maximum payout (commissions are paid by Paypal in USD).
- A service fee, payment processing fee and transfer fee of 6-10% (depending on the affiliate’s country) might be deducted from each payment by the Payouts Service provider. We have no control over these fees.
- Referrals can’t be generated on your own purchases (including when using a different email address).
Why an Affiliate Program?
Our Affiliates Program gives our launch partners, training partners, coaching & consulting clients and live workshop / online courses participants a way to provide distinct benefits to their audience / team / friends / colleagues when they purchase online courses from our website. It also allows them to earn a commission on each referral if they choose a non-zero commission rate.
We leave it to our affiliates to choose how they prefer to handle their referrals, depending on their aims and objectives: they can get a 20% standard commission or pass on all or part of this commission as a discount to their audience / team / friends / colleagues. You’ll find more details on this below.
Who Can Become an Affiliate?
We believe that those who have experienced our services, workshops & online courses are the best candidates to ethically promote these to their audience, team, friends or colleagues.
As a result, besides our launch partners, our affiliate program is currently open to clients who have organised a live workshop with us or for whom we’ve done some training or consulting & coaching work at any point in time, as well as participants who have completed at least one of our live workshops or online courses and writers/directors with whom we’ve worked on a project.
How to Become an Affiliate?
To become an affiliate, you or your organisation must have an active user account on the SCREENPLAY Unlimited website. Once logged in, you can register for an affiliate account if you head to the Affiliate Registration page. On completion, your application is marked as pending. You become an affiliate when your application is confirmed, usually within 2-3 business days. You’ll then get access to the Affiliates group page, which provides additional help and resources and to the Affiliate Area, where you can create your unique affiliate links and keep track of visits, referrals and payouts.
We can only accept a limited number of affiliates at any time, so we reserve the right to reject any application, without necessarily providing a detailed explanation. Please don’t take this personally!
Affiliates Products
Only our interactive online courses and premium memberships for sale to the public on the SCREENPLAY Unlimited website, with a default list price in U.S. Dollars (and the option to choose other currencies) are part of our affiliate program. The list price is the regular price at which they are available (at the tier selected during checkout when pricing tiers are available).
Our services (training, consulting & coaching) – as well as any product listed with a fee in GB Pounds (such as live workshops or programs commissioned directly for a closed group of participants by film funds, producers and studios) – are not included in the program, as we don’t sell these directly to the public through the website. Please get in touch if you’d like to promote these as well.
Affiliates Discount Codes and Links
Affiliate campaigns are linked to affiliate links and/or time-limited discount codes (usually valid for 15 to 90 days, renewable on request after each payout). Each affiliate will offer their own discount code (10% and 0% commission rate only) or links to their audience / team / friends / colleagues and these discount codes / links will be used to assign referrals to the corresponding affiliate.
Affiliates are free to choose any form of communication to share information about their campaign with their audience (their own website, their email list, their social media accounts, etc.) and can include affiliate links in this communication.
However, discount codes can only be communicated by email, on the affiliate’s website or in pre-agreed publications (magazines articles, blog posts etc.) and cannot be shared publicly, for example on social media. Paid advertising on any platform, retargeting ads using our brand keywords or promoting discount codes on coupons sites is strictly prohibited.
Affiliates Commission
The affiliate commission on each referral is calculated on the actual price paid by the user to us (list price less any discount), not the list price itself. The actual price paid is exclusive of any sales tax, VAT etc. paid by the end user at checkout as these are not handled by us but by our payment processor and Merchant of Record.
Each affiliate can choose one of the following options when they register for their account:
A 20% commission rate (standard). This is the default option for all affiliates. There is no additional discount for the user, besides those already available on the website (for example through pricing tiers or seasonal promotions).
Example: An online course is listed at $997 on the website. The user selects the independent producer tier (25% off) during checkout, which brings the price down to $797. The user doesn’t get any additional discount or discount code from the affiliate and the actual price paid is $797. The affiliate commission is $159.40 per sale.
A 10% commission rate (on request). Half of the standard 20% commission is passed on by the affiliate to their audience / team / friends / colleagues as a 10% additional discount. The affiliate keeps a 10% commission on the actual price paid.
Example: An online course is listed at $997 on the website. The user selects the independent producer tier (25% off) during checkout, which brings the price down to $797. The additional discount offered by the affiliate to their audience / friends / colleagues is 10%, so the user applies a 10% discount code at checkout, on top of the 25% discount offered on the website for individual producers and the actual price paid is $717.30. The affiliate commission is $71.30 per sale.
A 0% commission rate (on request). The full 20% commission is passed on by the affiliate to their audience / team / friends / colleagues as an additional discount. This option is often chosen by public funding bodies and not-for-profit organisations, but it can also be chosen by commercial companies or individuals.
Example: An online course is listed at $997 on the website. The user selects the independent producer tier (25% off) during checkout, which brings the price down to $797. The additional discount offered by the affiliate to their audience / team / friends / colleagues is 20%, so the user applies a 20% discount code at checkout, on top of the 25% discount offered on the website for individual producers and the actual price paid is $637.60. The affiliate commission is $0 per sale.
Affiliates can ask for their commission rate option (20%, 10% or 0%) to be changed after each campaign, when all their active discount codes have expired. Only one commission rate option can be active at any time for each affiliate.
Affiliates Commission Payments
Commissions are only awarded on final, confirmed sales. Invalid, incomplete, cancelled transactions and refunds are automatically deducted from affiliates payouts. For this reason, affiliates payouts (when applicable) will be processed monthly, but with a 60-day delay. For example, a payout made at the end of March will only include commissions up to the end of January.
The minimum amount for affiliate payments is U.S. $100.
All affiliate payments are final.
Affiliates Commission Payouts
Due to complex, ever changing tax regulations around the world, we are unable to process payments to affiliates who haven’t provided a valid Paypal email address for payment during their affiliate registration.
Affiliates remain responsible regarding any tax liability in their country in relation to the income generated by their commissions.
The fees associated with each payout vary by country. They will be deducted from each affiliate’s fee by the service provider. Payouts take 1-2 weeks for processing once initiated, depending on the country.
On average, the cost for the Payouts Service is 6-10% of each payment (service fee of around 3%, payment processing fee of around 3%, transfer fee from FREE in the U.S. to almost 4% in Australia). We have no control over these fees, they are set by the Payouts Service provider.
Example: if an affiliate payment is $1,000, they should expect around $900-$940 to be deposited on their account, before their own bank charges. All commission payments are made in US dollars.
Refunded Purchases
Referrals older than 60 days and in good standing (i.e. the purchase has not been refunded) will be included with each commission payout (if the commission balance totals $100.00 or over). If a purchase is refunded, a commission won’t be paid out for that referral.
We reserve the right to reject affiliate commissions for any reason. Commission rejections may occur for the following reasons:
- The sale that the referral was based on was refunded.
- The method by which the referral was generated was in violation of our promotional policies or violated the spirit of the Affiliate Terms of Service.
- The sale was made by the affiliate themselves, using the same or a different email address.
Affiliates News and Updates
By becoming an affiliate, you agree to receive infrequent emails from SCREENPLAY Unlimited. These emails will also provide you with relevant news and updates to help you promote our info-products.
As an affiliate you may be privy to embargoed or time-sensitive information in these emails (this information may only be shared with your audience / team / friends / colleagues after an embargo is lifted).
