I met Emmanuel Oberg a long time ago, when he was teaching screenwriting, based on Lavandier’s book “La dramaturgie”.
Since then, his reflexion evoluted to a new paradigm, and while still paying his tribute to his former mentor, he proposes now a new approach of screenwriting, giving less importance to the three act structure as promoted by scores of others (Syd Field…) to introduce the story-type method ®.
In this book, you’ll discover how to structure your story according to its story-type : Plot-led story, Character-led story, Theme-led story, and Hybrid or Exception.
When I read it, I was working on a character-led story (which I didn’t know by then) and Oberg’s insight greatly helped me in finalizing my project.
If, like me, you are always looking for new ways to improve your writing and make it more efficient, this book belongs to your library, along with the best books devoted to the writing (and screenwriting) trade.
