Slate Acceleration
Advanced Film & TV Development Program
Are you an experienced producer or do you represent a group, studio or film fund? Are you primarily focussed on getting the strongest projects as quickly as possible rather than investing in training your creative team? Are you working towards a tight deadline? Or maybe some of the storytellers you’re collaborating with are very experienced and don’t have much time to dedicate to training, yet could benefit from external feedback and advice on their project?
If that’s you, you’ll love this program! It will give a boost to your slate of Film and TV projects and it doesn’t include any training or group work as standard.
Boost Your Projects and Accelerate Your Slate!
Get Your Projects Made and Reach a Wider Audience at Home and Abroad
Who Is This For?
The Slate Acceleration advanced development program is designed for experienced producers, media groups, studios or film funds and the filmmakers / storytellers / creators they are developing Film & TV projects with.
It’s ideal for organisations developing an ambitious slate of crossover or mainstream projects with a strong commercial potential, aimed at a global audience. This program is delivered worldwide, online or in person (travel permitting).
Independent producers who can't yet justify hiring a head of development with international experience can access expert advice at a fraction of the cost. Larger organisations benefit from external feedback and support for their in-house development team, who remain actively involved in the slate acceleration process.
It's the best choice when there isn't much time or budget available for training and if what matters most is progress on the development side, as quickly as possible. Regular sessions can be scheduled through the year to monitor and consolidate progress or as new projects are added to the development slate.
It's also a great option if the creative teams attached to some or all of the projects are very experienced and don't have much time to dedicate to formal training, yet would still benefit from external feedback, tactical guidance, rewriting directions and — if desired — training through development.
We work routinely with award-winning, experienced filmmakers and creators: they feel energized, not patronized when we discuss their projects with them!

For Which Projects?
Because there is no training or group work included as standard, this program can accommodate a wide range of projects and creative teams with a diverse level of experience. Therefore, the same Slate Acceleration session can include:
- Feature film or TV projects (single, limited series, serials...)
- Animation or live action projects
- Any genre, except non-fiction / documentaries and experimental
- Any level of experience for each creative team, from newcomers to established and very experienced.
- The working language for the projects and the meetings is English or French.
Program Overview
- A series of in-depth consulting and coaching sessions with Emmanuel Oberg that require no previous knowledge of the Story-Type Method from the participants (or the organiser).
- No mandatory training: no workshop or group sessions included as standard. From each creative team's point of view, it can be as simple as a single 90-minute 'Advanced Script Chat' meeting, though additional elements can be included as needed.
Included as standard (online delivery):
- 45-minute briefing call with the organiser to discuss creative aims.
- 30-minute onboarding call with the whole group (if desired, for example if some optional online training is made available before or after the script meetings).
- 90-minute ‘Advanced Script Chat’ meeting on projects with each creative team (writer/director/producer/creator/showrunner/story editor).
- Standard Fee: £1,815 + £695 per project/team (min. 4, max. 12).
Free Bonuses (if desired):
- 30-day access to ‘A New Framework for Developing Screenplays’ — the first three modules of our Advanced Development Online Course — for all participants (£1,995 value).
- Slate Review meeting with the organiser (90-120 minutes), free if scheduled within a week of the series of meetings on projects. This meeting provides a snapshot of the slate and an opportunity to discuss the way forward for each of the projects. It's usually only offered as part of our £3,995+ Slate Assessment service, so getting it for free is great value!
Optional extras (for an additional fee):
- Advanced Script Notes for up to 6 key projects (£1,495 per project if commissioned within two weeks of the initial script meeting, or £1,295 per project if commissioned before the initial script meeting)
- On-going Consulting or Coaching over the following 180 days for up to 3 key projects (from £4,995 per project, reduced to £3,995 if commissioned within two weeks of the delivery of Advanced Script Notes on the same project)
- Follow-up ‘Advanced Script Chat’ meeting within 90 days for all or some of the projects/teams (595 per project)
- Full Access to the Advanced Development Online Course (group license from £2,995 or 20% discount code for on-demand individual licences purchased from the website) and up to six optional online sessions for live Q&As / Group Work as the group goes through the self-led content (£1,995).
- Full Access to the Writing a Successful TV Series Online Course (group license from £1,995) or 20% discount code for on-demand individual licences purchased from the website) and up to four optional online sessions for live Q&As / Group Work as the group goes through the self-led content (£1,995).
- Live rewrite workshop (online or in-person): 4 days of intensive work on projects for some or all of the teams at the beginning of the process (£4,995). This would preferably follow an Advanced Development Workshop or Course to get optimal results, but it can be delivered without previous training if necessary.
- In-person delivery for some or all of the sessions (from £995 per trip, plus all travel, meals and accommodation costs). This in-person delivery fee is waived if the total fee for the program is £9,995 or more.

What People Say About This Program
This is the best investment in our personnel we have ever made
“Our workshop with Emmanuel brought writers, producers and distributors together in a very successful way, leaving us inspired and eager to develop content together. The story type method gives us all a tool and a language that brings the various disciplines in the industry a way of talking about development we have been missing. As a producer and academic, I can honestly say this is the best investment in our personnel we have ever made. Storm Films will continue to use the Story-type method in its development work. We will continue using and developing the “tribal language” we created during the workshop between writers, producers, sales and execs.”
We knew that everything would run smoothly, punctually, professionally and with a gentle sense of humour…
We initiated this workshop with the intention of boosting the quality and competitiveness of the projects. As the project financing is additional European financing for mitigating COVID measures in the cultural and creative sector, huge responsibility lies on both the National Film Centre, as well as the film production teams. Professional outside assistance can only benefit the slate of selected projects. Due to our previous experience working with Emmanuel Oberg, we knew that everything would run smoothly, punctually, professionally and with a gentle sense of humour – and it did. Always a great pleasure to collaborate with him!
Extremely helpful!
I found extremely helpful the information on story structure, juxtaposing logistical and dramatic acts, with flexibility as one of the factors. The same should be said regarding the difference between plot-led and character-led stories, as well as the original approach of the Maslow pyramid as an instrument for reaching a wider target audience. Thanks a lot for your knowledge.
